My desire to express isolation within basic environments moved me to deconstruct the perceived traditions of landscape painting. I found elegance and beauty in the aesthetic of Minimalism and Dada and wanted to direct an abstract body of work under the influence of these traditions.
By minimizing the fundamental understanding of what a landscape is - both in traditional art and in relation to perception, I attempted to explore the dynamics found in the most basic context - a horizon with an indefinable object. As the work evolved, so did the object; replaced by a loosely constructed disturbance to the horizon. |
